Georg Schmelzer served for 7 years in the 2nd Panzer Division, heavy fighting in Poland, the first Division to reach the channel in the French campaign, Spearheaders in Greece, His Regt was the one that made it closest to Moscow, The Division made it the furtherest in the Mortain Counter attack in Normandy as well as the Furtherest in the attack through the bulge. No wonder I have a soft spot for this group :-)
